The Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre Launches
I was invited to the Press centre at the new one million square foot shopping centre, Trinity Leeds yesterday. To say I’m not a great fan of shopping centres, I was pleasantly surprised as the place felt very open and airy with plenty of space in-between the stores. To my amazement, people queued for miles between 8.00am and 10am to enter the building for the grand opening. The whole three floors were packed with people from the public, journalists, bloggers, management and Trinity staff members and it was a struggle to get an ideal viewing spot.
The opening ceremony included a dramatic acrobatic performance by a very brave lady, wowing the audience with some impressive moves. British Fashion designer Henry Holland designed a vibrant, flamboyant dress which was modelled by the artist who was then raised into the air for the grand finale.
My favourite shop in the shopping centre is Urban Outfitters which is based on two floors and includes a small quirky record store, complete with iPads so you can scroll through music and play around on the photo booth.
There are still many more shops to open in the coming months but the centre has a real buzz around it and I’m sure this will drive more people into Leeds City Centre. I just cross my fingers and hope that the rest of the Leeds shopping scene doesn’t go down the drain and we end up with cheap gift shops and pound stores!
I couldn’t resist a spot of shopping
